I never eat 2 hours before an intense Biomat session where I am going to sweat near a quart of sweat. About 30 minutes before my session I put green superfood powder in my water (best with coconut water) or I eat some chlorella tablets. I also put some brine free salt or Richways Detoxi salt in my drink. If I have time I dry skin brush for about 10 minutes and then shower to get any residue blockages out of my pores. The dry skin brushing help for faster sweating and gets an extra stimulation to my body.
If you want a some sample packets of Detoxi salt, let me know. I bought several boxes of these packets to give out so people can see what it is like because this is probably one of the most expensive salts in the world. Ask for Chris or Sandra if you want a sample.
Dry Skin Brushing:
Once the pores are open and not clogged with dirt and lotions the skin can release the debris much better. Also, after dry skin brushing, there will usually be a powdery residue that should be wiped off if you don't want dead skin all over the room.
Many people are lazy and don't think they will want to brush themselves for 10 minutes. After trying it once you feel so good it almost becomes an addiction. I brush twice a day and if I carry my brush almost everywhere I go. If I don't have a brush and I forget it, I find a way to brush myself. It's hard to tell someone why I took 10 minutes in the bathroom that hasn't ever brushed.
Dry skin brushing for about 5 to 10 minutes before your Biomat session helps get the dead skin off me so I can sweat better. I can take a black light and see all the dead skin and see what comes off of me.
During the Biomat Session:
If you're new to using the Biomat, be aware that you probably won't start sweating until about 10 to 15 minutes into the session. Once I start itching or feel like my heart rate is going up too fast this is the time to stop. Many people go past this point. Over time, most people will be able to tolerate longer session times. Also during the session, drinking colder water can keep the body from heating up faster and drinking hot tea can make me start sweating quicker. To keep the body core temperature high I drink the tea over about 20 minutes. I like peppermint tea but my favorite is from theteaoflife.com.
During the Biomat session I dry brush my arms and legs while my back is on the mat. I do this while the mat is warming up and stop right before I start sweating. Remember, the way to brush is always towards the direction of the heart.
Note: You might not sweat so much during your first 2 to 3 Biomat sessions. This is pretty normal for most people since they aren't used to sweating. It usually takes about 2 to 3 sessions to re-train your body to sweat naturally again. I do not recommend staying in longer to try to get this sweat as the body can overheat when its not sweating. As the body gets used to sweating, the body can regulate its temperature better. I never stay on my Biomat when doing high heat sessions when my pulse is 50% above my normal resting pulse.
During the session I never let my body go over a few degrees above my normal temperature unless for short periods of time I go higher. Over time, most people sweat more quickly and also at a lower temperature than when first starting Biomat sessions. Each session forward most people notice they sweat quicker and more profusely.
Biomat - After the Session
The first thing I do after I stop sweating is I close my pores as quickly as I can on my skin with a cold shower. This removes my salty sweat and oily sebum. If going on the Biomat for a long time on a lower setting, my skin should feel really oily. If going on it for intense heat sessions and sandwiched between two mats, my skin should feel more salty.
After the session, most people are very relaxed and don't even feel like getting up. Someone's energy usually won't be drained unless they burned 600 calories in less than an hour, but most people don't feel like getting up and exercising to REMOVE the wastes. When the body is this warm, this is the perfect time when I finish my session with a chi machine unless I used it during my session.
Note: I relax for 10 minutes after an intense session. My body is still sweating and if I take a shower too quickly, the sweat that is still trying to come out of my skin get trapped under so I never shower until I cooled down. I get breakouts and bumpy if I let the sweat get trapped under my skin. I use an exfoliating wash cloth also to help get rid of the oily sebum after my session.
Note: Many people after sweating nearly 600 calories will have a need to eat something salty. I drink water with Detoxi salt before my session so I don't have to worry about mineral loss.. I never crave salty food because of this. (If anyone wants some samples of the Detoxi packets of salt, call me and I will send you some.
If taking the right protocols after a profuse sweat this will prevent the sweat from reabsorbing back into the pores. Many people do it totally wrong and don't get the maximum results out of their sessions.
